Public Information Requests

Dear Rhode Islanders:

As Treasurer, I've made a commitment to making your goverment more accountable and transparent than ever. I've always said, "You shouldn't have to be an investigative reporter to see how the state spends your hard-earned tax dollars."

And that is exactly why we created the Treasury Online Checkbook, where you can see exactly what my office is spending, just like your own personal checkbook.

However, sometimes our office receives requests for additional information about the business of the state. It is our policy to respond to these requests in a timely fashion according to statute. (§ 38-2-1)

Because many of these requests often seek similar material, we've decided to publish them on this website. By publishing these requests we're setting a new standard for transparent government-- and saving taxpayer dollars.

When our office receives a request for public information we'll publish both the original request and our responses.

You can view the most recent requests and our responses in the links to the left.

Sincerely,

Frank T. Caprio
General Treasurer
