Hi Students,
As Treasurer, I take care of all the money that comes into the state. That's why I am known as the "State's Banker." My top priority is making sure the state's money is safe and we always have enough to pay the state's bills. To ensure this, we save the state's money in a bank where it is safe and will earn interest.
Our friends at the Rhode Island Jump$tart Coalition have research that tells us most Ocean State high schools offer classes on personal finance. Whether or not you are considering a career in the financial services industry, you should be sure that you are able to manage your own finances by taking a class at your school.

To be a "Smart Saver" you must be a wise spender. Always determine if what you are buying is what you really need or is it something you just want. For example, instead of buying lots of little things, if you save that money you may be able to buy something bigger -- something you always wanted. Being a "Smart Saver" can take you a long way! You can reach all your dreams! You can travel, you can go to college or you can buy your friends and family presents.
Remember, always be a "Smart Saver!"
Sincerely,
